A well-hollowed nephrite, natural pebble snuff bottle. The grey material has a medium polish, and the natural russet and black(ish) areas of the skin have been left intact providing both a tactile and visual juxtaposition between the nephrite and the dark skin formed as a result of the oxidation of metals found within the stone. The well-paired stopper has an older bone spoon and is topped with a sprig of coral. A bottle like this would have been particularly appealing to those aligned with the scholar aesthetic.
